The Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Tour
Cape Town is going to have its fair share of fun and games with
the Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Tour on the 11th of March,
commemorating 30 years of the event. Every year the cycle event
gives the local tourism service providers in the Cape an injection
of bookings and rentals. Last year close on 27 000 people entered
the 109km race, of which many of them needed accommodation and transport
for their stay.
Some cycle tour trivia: In 1977 Bill Mylrea and
John Stegmann, who are credited with being the visionaries and moving
spirits behind the Cycle Tour, organised the Big Ride-In to draw
attention to the need for cycle paths in Cape Town. Visit www.cycletour.co.za for more information
